HARRY AND MEGHAN’S NEXT CHAPTER?
Couple eye-up $18m Malibu property a stones-throw away from Kardashian friends as they prepare for relaunch after high profile A-list hangouts
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be considering selling their Montecito home, which they bought in 2020 for $14 million
Over the Labor Day weekend the pair reportedly viewed an $8 million, 5-acre plot of land in Malibu, with ocean views and plans for a $10 million house
The couple have spent much of the past week with Hollywood friends: Markle's mother was with the Kardashians, while they were in LA for Beyonce and soccer
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been to visit the site of an $18million mansion in Malibu, increasing speculation the pair could be looking to leave Montecito and move their family closer to Hollywood.
The couple went to see the estate over the Labor Day weekend, sources told TMZ.
At present, it offers little more than a parcel of land - valued at $8million - with a swimming pool already built, and plans for a modern 10,000-square-foot property, which would cost $10million to erect.
Harry, 38, and Meghan, 42, have lived in their nine-bedroom, $14million mansion in Montecito since 2020.
The 18,000-square-foot Mediterranean style home features rose gardens, century-old olive trees, a tennis court, a tea house, a children's cottage and a pool, as well as a two-bedroom guesthouse.
Other locals include Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Ariana Grande, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
But the house is 85 miles from Hollywood - a drive of around an hour and a half - and in recent weeks speculation has been building that they may soon move.
The Malibu plot is only 25 miles from Hollywood, or a 45-minute drive.
And it is a mere 15 miles from Calabasas, where the Kardashians live. Markle's mother, Doria Ragland, was photographed at a charity event with Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner.
The Malibu site already has a guardhouse, protecting the long drive to where the main residence will be built.
The property, above Broad Beach and the Pacific Coast Highway, will feature a striking ultra-modern main house with expansive windows and sweeping ocean views, according to the renderings.
Brendan Brown, of Westside Estate Agency, has the listing of the property and promoted it on Instagram last month.
'Incredible Malibu development opportunity - RTI ready with plans by award winning architect, and foundation underway,' he wrote.
'Located directly above PCH and overlooking Broad Beach, this unrivaled lot that affords the most extreme privacy is offered at $8 million.'
He said the site is 5.26 acres, with 360-degree ocean views.
'Completely gated for privacy and security,' he added.
The couple are said to be keen to find somewhere secluded for their family, but also close enough to Hollywood for their increasing number of Hollywood jaunts.
On Monday, Markle was in Los Angeles for Beyonce's concert - having attended on Friday with her husband.
The Duchess of Sussex returned to the SoFi stadium on Monday without Harry, but was seen alongside Tyler Perry, who is godfather to their son Archie. She was also photographed with Kerry Washington and former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland.
Harry, meanwhile, was in LA on Sunday night to watch Lionel Messi's Inter Miami side defeat the Will Ferrell-owned LAFC.
Harry was pictured in animated conversation with Ferrell, but notably avoided David Beckham - who co-owns Inter Miami - and his son Brooklyn.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly accused the Beckhams in a phone call of leaking stories about them, which the Beckhams found deeply insulting.
And a move closer to Hollywood would help both of their rocky road to media stardom.
